Sometimes you just want to talk without your name attached. In ICP's public room you join with a nickname, nobody asks for your email, phone number or ID, and you can leave the conversation whenever you like.
Anonymity is not a licence to be rude - the rules apply to everyone and moderators remove abuse - but it does let you talk about hobbies, worries or everyday life with less pressure. You are also free to keep your photos and location private.
Using a nickname does not mean you have to invent a character. Many people simply use a different name from the one on their ID, and are more honest because of it. If you later want the same nickname every time, a free registration keeps it reserved so nobody else can take it.
You are anonymous to other users when you join as a guest. Like every website, ICP keeps basic technical logs to prevent abuse - see the privacy page for details.
Keep phone numbers, home addresses, bank details and passwords to yourself, even in friendly conversations.
Yes. Moderators can warn, mute or remove people who break the rules, whether they are guests or members.
