Public rooms are great for meeting people; private chat is where friendships deepen. On ICP you meet in the public room first, then tap a name and send a private message that only the two of you can read on screen.
Guests can watch and talk in the public room, but private messages need a free registration - it only takes a nickname and a password. You stay in control: block, report or ignore anyone at any time.
Private chat works best when both people are comfortable. Introduce yourself in the public room first, ask whether the other person would like to talk one-on-one and respect a no. If a private conversation becomes uncomfortable, you can ignore or block the person and report them to the moderators.
